Biographical Sketch of Hon. Paine Page Prim

Hon. Paine Page Prim, a notable figure among Oregon’s judiciary, was born in Tennessee and graduated from Cumberland University. He moved to Missouri in 1851, eventually reaching Oregon, where he initially engaged in mining. Prim established a legal practice in Jacksonville and was elected to the constitutional convention in 1857. Appointed as a justice of the Oregon Supreme Court in 1859, he served for nearly twenty years. A respected Democrat, Prim was also elected to the state senate in 1882 and is survived by his wife and three children.
