Biography of Robert Odom

Robert Odom was born in the state of Tennessee in the year 1846, and immigrated to Hopkins County with his father in the year 1850. His father, Jesse Odom, settled nineteen miles southeast of Sulphur Springs and four miles west of Winsboro. The county was new and uninhabited; therefore Robert had not educational training. Growing up amid the wilds of the country, he was surrounded with all the environments common to a pioneer life. 1st Lt., Btry. A, 27th Div., 106th F. A.; of Nash County; son of C. J. and Mrs. Genora Odom. Husband of Mrs. Anne Odom. Entered service March 8, 1917, at Nashville, N.C. Sent to Ft. Oglethorpe. Transferred to Camp Jackson, S. C., to Camp Wheeler. Sailed for France June 12, 1918. Promoted to rank of 2nd Lt. Aug. 15, 1917; 1st Lt. Feb. 12, 1919. Fought at St. Mihiel, Cambrai Hill, Argonne. Returned to USA March 11, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Lee, Va., April 1, 1919.
