The son of Bavarian immigrant Michael Moritz, he graduated high school in 1901 and began his career at the Racine Boat Company before advancing at the Fish Brothers Wagon Company. Frederick H. Moritz, born in Germany on April 5, 1854, was a distinguished florist in Cleveland. He began his career in floristry in 1862 and gained experience with several prominent firms before opening his own greenhouse in 1901. Moritz was involved in various organizations, including the Foresters and the Masonic Order. He was married to Miss M. E. Kelliher in 1879 and enjoyed hunting in his leisure time.
