Biography of John L. M’Craw, Sr.

John L. McCraw, Sr. was born in Tennessee in 1808 and moved to Greene County, Missouri in 1886 after marrying Elizabeth H. Kenner. A pioneering farmer and stock-rearer, he faced many challenges, including wildlife threats and limited resources. McCraw served as county surveyor for thirty years and was politically active, supporting the Union during the Civil War. He experienced significant loss, including the death of his wife in 1855. McCraw passed away on April 2, 1882, and was buried near his home.
