Biographical Sketch of Barnet McColpin
Barnet McColpin, born on October 22, 1820, in Todd County, Kentucky, was the youngest of seven children. Orphaned early, he lived with relatives until adulthood. He married Nancy Black in 1843, with whom he had five children. Following her death in 1855, he wed Sarah Hill in 1858, welcoming four more children. A successful farmer, McColpin owned 206 acres and was known for his hard work and good health, gaining respect in his community as a member of the Baptist Church.
