John F. Lewin, born on September 5, 1875, in the Isle of Man, was a mason contractor. He was the son of John and Jane Bridson Lewin and received his education in Kirk Patrick. On March 20, 1901, he married Netta Quirk in Kirk Braddon, and together they had three children.
Curtis Franklin Lewin was born on April 24, 1850, in Plainfield, to Erastus and Fanny Nash Lewin. From a family of notable figures, including Judge Lewin, Curtis thrived in the meat and provision business, building on his father’s legacy. He also cultivated a farm and achieved considerable wealth. Married to Lucy M. Clough in 1875, they had nine children. A Democrat, Curtis remained focused on business rather than politics and was known for his musical talent, sharing it with family.
