Born on July 11, 1864, in Chicago, he entered St. Benedicts College at age thirteen and was ordained a priest in 1887. He became a teacher and later the director of the college before assuming the pastorate at St. Benedicts Church in 1899, where he has been a spiritual leader for eighteen years.
