Githens

Henry W. Githens was born in 1823 in Decatur County, Indiana, to pioneer parents. He received a limited education and moved to Daviess County, Missouri, in 1844, but returned to Indiana due to health issues. He settled in Missouri again, owning a 160-acre farm. Githens married Eveline Higgins in 1843, having seven children together, four of whom survived him. After Eveline’s death in 1868, he married Justina Nash in 1869, and they had five children, including one who passed away.
