The northwest corner house was constructed circa 1840 by Moses Johnson, born February 9, 1800, who lived there until moving to Boston in the 1880s. He married Rosella Hinckley and had seven children. Subsequently, the home passed to his nephew, Captain Samuel B. Johnson, a notable mariner during the Civil War. Samuel and his wife had several children before the house fell vacant after their deaths. The adjacent Robert Johnson house, built by Samuel’s father, also hosted a large family before its demolition.
