Charles H. Courser was born on May 19, 1827, in Boscawen, N.H. to John and Keziah Courser. After training as a carpenter, he moved to Henniker, where he established several mills and invested in timber lands. He married Mary Jane Blanchard in 1848 and had six children, many of whom pursued their own careers. Courser was active in local politics as a Republican and served as Road Agent. He retired a few years prior to the writing of this biography, leaving a legacy of community involvement and industry.
