In 1906, Charles E. McChesney compiled a list of the Lower Chinook, Kathlamet, Tillamook, and Clatsop Indians, along with their heirs, who had treaty agreements with the U.S. government since 1851. The document includes numerous names and corresponding addresses across various locations, such as Oregon, Washington, and California. This registration underscores the ongoing recognition of these tribes and serves as an important historical record of their existence and relocations during that period.

Biographical Sketch of John T. Coffman

John T. Coffman, born in Greene County, Tennessee, in 1828, was a farmer who relocated several times, ultimately settling in Raglan Township, Harrison County, Iowa, in 1865. He previously lived in Johnson County, Missouri, and Virginia City, Montana. Coffman owns one thousand acres and focuses on stock raising. He was first married to Matilda J. Croft, who passed away in 1854, leaving two children, and later married Susan Croft, with whom he had seven more children. He is also a member of the A.F. A.M. lodge.

Coffman, Woolery – Obituary

Woolery Coffman, a Civil War veteran from Otterbein, passed away at his son Robert’s home on Tuesday due to complications from various diseases. Born on August 13, 1844, in Tippecanoe County, he enlisted in the Indiana Infantry at age 17 and served until 1865. He was first married to Nancy Meeks, who died in 1884, leaving three children. He remarried in 1902 to Mary Etta German, who predeceased him in 1924. His funeral will be held at the United Brethren Church in Otterbein.

Coffman, Isaac – Obituary

Isaac Coffman, a 65-year-old Civil War veteran, passed away due to dropsy at his home in Montmorenci on June 2, 1895. He is survived by a large family of grown children. His funeral took place on the same day at 10 o’clock, led by Rev. H. H. Dunlavy, with burial following in Montmorenci Cemetery.

Coffman, George Washington – Obituary

George Washington Coffman passed away on May 12, 1926, at the age of 70, following a recent stroke. A laborer by trade, he is survived by three sons and a daughter. His wife predeceased him two decades earlier. The funeral will be held at the U.B. Church in Montmorenci, with Rev. Smith officiating, and burial will take place in Montmorenci Cemetery. The body is currently at the Templeton funeral home for viewing until the service.
