Biographical Sketch of James R. P. Cassaday
James R. P. Cassaday, born on August 22, 1845, in Edgar County, Illinois, faced early adversity after losing his parents at 14. He married Catharine Edmond in 1867, with whom he had six children, though four died young. After her passing, he wed Mary M. Neal in 1878. A veteran of the Civil War, Cassaday served with the 11th Indiana Volunteer Cavalry and participated in key battles. He also held local offices, including Pathmaster and School Director, and owns 77½ acres of land.
