Biography of Joseph L. Carter

Joseph L. Carter, born on January 22, 1845, at a Methodist Episcopal Mission near Salem, was a notable educator in Eastern Oregon. The son of David Carter, he moved with his mother to Brownsville after his father’s death in 1854. Graduating from Willamette University in 1868, he dedicated twelve years to teaching, notably as preceptor of Blue Mountain Academy. Subsequently, he ventured into the drug business before becoming school superintendent in 1888, a position he still holds. He married Maggie E. Rector in 1869.

Savage, Richard A. – Obituary

Richard A. Savage, 72, passed away on April 13, 2007, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in 1935 in Walla Walla, Washington, he was a graduate of Baker High School and Eastern Oregon College, earning a degree in electrical engineering. Richard served in the U.S. Army Intelligence Division and had a 27-year career at Pacific Northwest Bell. He was active in various community organizations and is survived by his wife, Deanne, and their family. Memorial services will be held in Texas.

Biography of Colonel Solon Augustus Carter

Colonel Solon Augustus Carter, born June 22, 1837, in Leominster, Massachusetts, has played a significant role in New Hampshire’s civic and military history.
