Biographical Sketch of Joseph H. Carlow

Joseph H. Carlow was born on April 2, 1838, near Petersborough, Canada, to Irish immigrants John and Susan Lee Carlow. After spending time in Saginaw, Michigan, and Franklin, Pennsylvania, he moved to Caldwell County, Missouri, in 1865. Carlow became a successful businessman, owning Jackson mills and a saw-mill, along with real estate investments. He married Annie Murphy on May 28, 1865, and they had seven children. Both he and his wife are respected members of the local Catholic community.
