These families are brought down to the heads of families in the First Census (1790), and include the generation born about 1790 to 1800. Descendants in the male line who removed from this region are also given, if obtainable, to about 1800, unless they have been adequately set forth in published genealogies.

Rufus E. Cable was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He came to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1856, and was employed as a clerk in the establishment of W. E. Proctor, who was the proprietor of a general store. The store of Mr. Proctor and all other business houses in Kansas City, Missouri, were at that time on the levee along the south bank of the Missouri River. Hilda Ellen Overton, 83, of Baker City, died July 30, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Health Services. At her request, there will be no public service. Hilda was born on May 10, 1925, at Washburn, N.D., to Andrew and Louise Pfiefle Schacher, who had immigrated from Germany. She was the third of 10 children. She attended school at Washburn and lived on a farm as a child. When they moved to town, she got polio. She had the disease three times and wasn’t able to talk until the age of 9.
