Brian

William Brian, Sr. was born on May 6, 1806, in Ross County, Ohio. In 1837, he settled in what is now Douglas County, acquiring over three thousand acres of land, having initially entered one thousand acres. A blacksmith by trade for two decades, he was known for a humorous incident shoeing a preacher’s horse. Married to Anna Lewis in 1829, they had nine children, six of whom are mentioned. He passed away a few years ago.

William T. Brian, born in 1845 in Douglas County, comes from a pioneering family with deep roots in the area. His father, William Brian, settled in the region around 1843 and became one of its largest landowners by the time of his death in 1888. William T. married Sarah Bundy in 1868, and they have one daughter, Ellanor. Currently, he owns 862 acres and is recognized as a prominent tax payer and respected citizen in the county.
