Biographical Sketch of William Brian Sr.
William Brian, Sr. was born on May 6, 1806, in Ross County, Ohio. In 1837, he settled in what is now Douglas County, acquiring over three thousand acres of land, having initially entered one thousand acres. A blacksmith by trade for two decades, he was known for a humorous incident shoeing a preacher’s horse. Married to Anna Lewis in 1829, they had nine children, six of whom are mentioned. He passed away a few years ago.
