This volume, “Marriages of Charlotte County, Virginia, 1784-1815,” compiles the marriage bonds and minister’s returns from Charlotte County during the specified period. The original work was painstakingly copied by Catherine Lindsay Knorr and published in 1951. The book spans 119 pages and includes a wealth of historical data on marriages that took place in this Virginia county. This publication presents several challenges for readers. Some pages are slightly tattered and torn, and the manuscript features irregular pagination. Additionally, there are tight or nonexistent margins, particularly at the bottom of the pages, and one page is typed on different paper than the rest.

Funeral for Goldie Marie Bowman will be 10 a.m. Monday at Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel, Pendleton, with burial at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton. Mrs. Bowman, 79, Pendleton, died Wednesday, June 19, 1985, at her home. She was born Aug. 4, 1905 at Bremerton, Wash., the daughter of Charles and Mary Abigail (Sevy) Emery. On Feb. 25, 1925 she married Robert L. Bowman. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. The Bowmans farmed on the Bowman family ranch until retirement but continued to reside at the ranch. Bowman, Eugenia Decravel Hunot Blanchett – Obituary

Mrs. Walter S. Bowman, 79, Pendleton resident since 1901, well known here, died Sunday morning [December 5, 1954] in St. Anthony’s Hospital after an illness of 17 days. Mrs. Bowman, formerly Eugenia Ellenberger [adopted name] was born in Berne, Switzerland, and first came to Umatilla County when she was 13, living in Pilot Rock with her mother the last Mrs. Fritz Ellenberger. She came here in 1901. She and the late Mr. Bowman, a pioneer photographer, were married in 1934. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Pioneer Ladies Club.
