John Ward Boring

Regimental Sergeant Major John Ward Boring served in the 120th Infantry Regiment of the 30th Division during World War I. A resident of Durham County, he enlisted on May 29, 1917, and was deployed to Europe, participating in significant battles such as the Ypres-Lys and Somme Offensives. He achieved the rank of Battalion Sergeant Major in August 1917 and was promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major in January 1918. Following his service, he returned to the U.S. in April 1919.
