Biography of Rev. William M.A. Bleasdell, D.C.L.
William Bleasdell, born on March 12, 1817, in Lancashire, England, served as the Rector of St. George’s Church in Trenton, Ontario, for over thirty years. Son of a notable cotton manufacturer, he pursued a rigorous education, earning degrees from Trinity College, Dublin. Ordained in 1845, he emigrated to Canada in 1848, becoming the first Rector of St. George’s. A scholarly figure, he published various works on scientific and theological topics. Despite opportunities elsewhere, he remained devoted to his parish and family, marrying Agnes Cowell and raising eleven children.
