Bessonett

George P. Bessonett, born in Mississippi in 1850, was a notable businessman in Santa Ana. Starting his career at fifteen in a confectionery store, he eventually learned the bricklayer’s trade and moved to San Francisco before settling in Santa Ana in 1875. As a contractor, he constructed many of the city’s brick homes and later entered the livery business. A public-spirited leader, he held a Supervisor nomination and was involved in local fraternal organizations. He married Annie E. Briggs and had seven children.
