La Grande, Union County, Oregon Mrs. Helena Belden Dies at Age of 78 Helena Jane Belden, 78, for many years a resident of Union county, died Sunday, in her home, 2403 North Depot street, after a short illness. She was born October 12, 1886, in LaFayette, Yamhill County. Survivors include one son, Charles Fredrick Belden of La Grande, one foster daughter, Mrs. Helen Sandoz of Portland and other relatives. These families are brought down to the heads of families in the First Census (1790), and include the generation born about 1790 to 1800. Descendants in the male line who removed from this region are also given, if obtainable, to about 1800, unless they have been adequately set forth in published genealogies.

Genealogy of Elizabeth Caroline Seymour Brown

Over a period of many years Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Seymour Brown, early member of Linares Chapter, D.A.R., collected genealogy of her forebears. It was her wish that her work be sent to the library of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution. This collection was painstakingly copied, with some additions and corrections, maintaining the same general form as used in the original notes. Elizabeth’s family originated in England moving to New England in the 1600’s. Her family lines involve many of the early lines in Connecticut, Massachusets, and New Hampshire. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Augustus A. Belden, veteran of the Civil war, died at the home of his daughter at 6210 58 Ave., S.E. Portland, Oregon, September 5, 1921. He suffered from a stroke of paralysis over a year ago. Increasing weakness for four weeks caused from a fall resulted in capillary pneumonia, which was the immediate cause of his death. Cove, Union County, Oregon The death of A. A. Belden, at Portland, 11 a. m. Monday, September 5, 1921, at the age of near eighty-four years, was no surprise to his many Cove friends, as his illness had been of long duration. He left two sons and two daughters-Harry, Miles, Pearl and Kathryn. The last named was his faithful nurse throughout his widowed years, his wife having passed about six years ago.
