Sergt. 1st Class Edgar T. Beddingfield, of the Medical Corps at Base Hospital No. 65, was born to A.T. and Bettie S. Beddingfield in Johnston County. He enlisted on April 23, 1918, in Clayton, N.C., and trained at Ft. McPherson, Ga. He was later transferred to Camp Upton, N.Y., before sailing to France on August 15, 1918. He was promoted on September 1, 1918, and returned to the United States on July 13, 1919, being mustered out on July 23, 1919.
