Banister, Margaret – Obituary

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. L. N. Bannister [Banister] at her home in Yakima yesterday morning died November 4, 1925. Mr. Bannister, who made his home in Ellensburg before his marriage is a brother of Mrs. E. J. Dixon and Mrs. W. M. McEwen. Aged pioneer of valley loses his life in the river; Samuel Newell Bannister, resident of valley for many years, drowns; Body is recovered; Falls from Lower River Bridge at noon yesterday; No witnesses Samuel Newell Banister, 92, a pioneer of this state and the Kittitas valley, lost his life yesterday when he fell from the lower Yakima River bridge into the river. Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Banister died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Dixon, 500 Capital Avenue, this morning at 8 o’clock at the age of 86 years October 7, 1918. Mrs. Banister was born March 31, 1841, in Illinois, coming to Kittitas Valley 34 years ago. Banister, Sam L. – Obituary

Sam L. Banister, 55, former Ellensburg resident who had resided for several years in Kirkland, died Thursday in Maynard Hospital, Seattle, following a lingering illness. Born in Tieton Aug. 28, 1913, Banister resided in Ellensburg until 1943 when he went to work for Boeing Aircraft Company. He is survived by his wife, Helen at the family home in Kirkland; two sons, Paul and Perry Banister, both in the U.S. navy; a brother, George Banister, Seattle; an aunt, Mrs. Belle Lewis, Yakima; and four cousins, Bertha Longerbeam, son, Cora McEwen and Mrs. Pat Jordin, all of Ellensburg.
