Baden

Henry Baden, born in 1844 in Hanover, Germany, is a prominent figure in Independence, Kansas, where he has built a successful mercantile business over 46 years. A pioneer merchant, he established his store in 1870 and expanded it to become the largest retail and wholesale merchant in the region. Baden, who immigrated to America post-Civil War, has played a significant role in the community, serving in various civic capacities and actively participating in the Lutheran Church. He married twice and had numerous children, many of whom are involved in his business.
