Irene May Watson, 92, a longtime Baker City, Ore., resident, died Feb. 20, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Baker City.
Her memorial service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Pastor Jesse Whitford of the Baker City Christian Church officiated.
Irene was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Vale, Ore., to Henrietta and William Goff. She married Robert Watson Sr. on May 18, 1933. She was a homemaker, loved spending time with family, enjoyed fishing and camping. She was very active in loving and serving the Lord as a member of the First Christian Church. In her later years she very much enjoyed reading and working puzzle books.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Watson Sr.; daughters, Donna Rupe and Jo Ann McClain; her parents; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; sister, Virginia Goff; brothers, Jo and Alfred Goff.
Survivors include children, Robert Watson Jr. and Larry Watson both of LaGrande, Ore., Richard Watson of Wieser, Idaho, Mike Watson and Helen LeFever of Baker City, Ore., Sharon Brainard of Springfield, Ore., MaryJo Zemmer of Sherwood, Ore.; sisters, Hazel Masters and Vinnie Givens both of Baker City; 36 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
