Margaret Stein died Oct. 3, 2006. She was 84.
She was born April 21, 1922, to Earnest and Lillian Simmons Quinn in Joseph. She attended Reavis and Enterprise schools. She married her high school sweetheart Myron Stein on Feb. 16, 1940, when she was 17. She and Myron were married 66 years.
Mrs. Stein spent most of her adult life in Wallowa County. She led a simple life and was content being a homemaker. She loved cooking, camping, huckleberry picking and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Joseph Valley Chapter #50 until her health forced her to quit. She was also an active member of the Liberty Grange.
She was baptized in 1965 at the Enterprise Baptist Church and became an active member of the Joseph Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.
After falling and breaking her hip and with failing health she spent most of the past few years going on car rides around the county, shopping at Safeway and being at home.
Mrs. Stein is survived by her husband Myron of Enterprise; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Connie Stein of Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law Saonni and Fred Talbott of Union; daughter and son-in-law Ernestine and Jim Kilgore of Enterprise; sister and brother-in-law Cecile and Harold Lay of Enterprise; sister Lois DeLaney of Enterprise; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons.
Services have been held. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice in care of the Bollman Funeral Home.
