Lois L. Smith, 77, Rt.1 North Powder, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was a lifetime Oregonian.
Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gray’s West and Co. Pioneer Chapel, with the Rev. James Shaver of the Fist Christian Church officiating. Vault interment will follow in the family plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born January 3, 1900 in Lostine to William and Lucinda Graham Arnold. She grew up in Elgin, graduated from Elgin High School and was a life member of the Elgin Alumni group.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Christian Church, Baker Rebekah Lodge, and Haines Elkhorn Grange. She was Grange secretary for more than 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Guy, at home; son Jack McGoldrick of Portland; daughter Connie Wells of Los Angeles; sisters Mable Brack of Pendleton and Wilma Smith of Waldport; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests friends contribute to the charity of the donor’s choice in memoriam. Contributions may be given at Gray’s West and Co.
