Glenda Beth Simonsen, 69, of John Day, a former Baker City resident, died Sept. 23, 2007, at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day.
There was a private family service.
Glenda was born April 22, 1938, at Baker City to Glen and Anna Jacobson Healey. She was a 1956 graduate of Powder Valley High at North Powder. Glenda married Roger Simonsen in Baker City on July 31, 1959.
Glenda was a business owner with her husband, Roger. Their work included highway construction, wholesale grocery, service station and auto repair. She also filled customer service positions at several John Day businesses.
She was a community volunteer and enjoyed spending time with her family and trying to control her husband. She was affiliated with the Blue Mountain Hospice Auxiliary and the Grant County Chamber of Commerce.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Roger, of John Day; her son, Glen Simonsen, and his wife, Lisa, of Shelton, Wash.; a daughter and grandpups, Beth Simonsen, Eddy and Bridget of Canyon City; granddaughter, Sara Bradshaw of Portland; grandson, Evan Bradshaw of Canyon City; a sister, Alice, and her husband, Bill Howe, of Baker City; sister, Doris, and her husband, Louis Townsend, of Baker City; a niece, Nancy Howe of Portland; nephew, Kenneth McKinney of Lake Oswego; sister-in-law, Toni Phillips and her husband, Mike, of Baker City; sister-in-law, Kay Mesford, and her husband, Bruce, of Richland, Wash.; sister-in-law, Carole Dixon, and her husband, Jess, of Elko, Nev.; brother-in-law, Lee Simonsen, and his wife, Millie, of Portland; special friends, Lynn Edwards of Raymond, Wash., and Don and Doris Wright of Crooked River Ranch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
