Schricker, Richard Alex – Obituary

Richard Alex Schricker, 65, of Baker City died Aug. 11, 2008, at Phoenix, Ariz.

Visitations will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St.

His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Agape Christian Center, 650 Highway 7. There will be a reception afterward at the church. Pastor Garth Johnson will officiate. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillcrest East Cemetery in La Grande.

Richard was born on March 7, 1943, at South Bend, Ind., to Richard Clifford and Patricia Louise Wynegar Schricker. He graduated from high school in 1961 at Garden Grove, Calif.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy for four years and then in the National Guard for 16 years. He ranked as seaman and sergeant first class.

Richard worked as the fire cache manager for the U.S. Forest Service at La Grande, retiring in November of 2003.

He married Leslie Perrigo in March of 1968 at The Dalles. The couple remained married until her death in September of 2007.

Richard enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and meeting new people. He was a member of the Agape Christian Center in Baker City and a volunteer at the Powder River Correctional Facility. Richard was also a wonderful and loving father, his family said.

Survivors include his two children, Jeffery Schricker of McCall, Idaho, and Jayme Schricker of John Day; his mother, Patricia L. Perry of Grants Pass; and a sister, Deborah Davis of Myrtle Creek.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie; and his father, Richard C. Schricker.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans or the Hospitalized Veterans of America through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, OR 97814.
