Grace Violet Rowett, 85, of North Powder died Dec. 30 at St. Elizabeth Health Services in Baker City. A funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gray’s West and Co. Pioneer Chapel. with burial following at the North Powder Cemetery. Viewing will be from noon until 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. A reception will follow the service and burial Wednesday at the North Powder Grange.
Mrs. Rowett was born May 3, 1921, to Frank and Olive (Davis) Pearson in North Powder. She attended school in North Powder.
On Dec. 21, 1938, she married Harold Rowett. The couple were married for nearly 60 years, before Harold died.
Mrs. Rowett was a volunteer firefighter, worked in the school cafeteria, drove a grain truck and took pride in being a full-fledged homemaker.
She is survived by three daughter and their spouses, Judy and Keith Fordice of Hermiston, Pat and Jerry Christiansen of Montford, Wis., and Kelie and Bill Mahon of Island City; a son, Raymond Rowett of Baker City; two sisters, Barbara Baker of Baker City and Phyllis Fettig of North Powder; three grandsons, two granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
Dying earlier were her husband, Harold Rowett; a grandson, four brothers and six sisters.
