Planting, John William – Obituary

Funeral of John William Planting, 68, well-known rancher, resident of this county all his life, native of Adams, will be Saturday, 10 a.m., Folsom Chapel with the Rev. A. D. Hart of the Boise Gospel Tabernacle officiating and with music by Mrs. Hart. [Died July 19, 1950]

Mr. Planting was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Planting, among the earliest of Umatilla County pioneers. His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Umbarger, Pendleton, and four sons, Clarence, Boise, Ida.; Earl, Irvin and John, Pendleton, and four grandchildren, Sherill Ann Planting, David, Marilyn and Billy Umbarger, and eight sisters.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Chapman, John J. Lorenzen, Harold Guyll, John Holmgren, Fred Hendrickson and Lambert Kononen. Honorary bearers are Jack Kasari, J. E. Harvey, I. L. Hagen, Olney Simpson, Ernest French, Frank Hutchinson, Sheriff R. E. Goad, and W. E. King. [Interment at Olney Cemetery]
