Ortman, Maude – Obituary

Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon

Maude L. Ortman passed away at the Wallowa County Nursing Home on August 10, 1978, where she had been a resident for 4 ½ years.

Born March 21, 1893 at Enterprise she was the daughter of Samuel and Ella Litch.

On September 8, 1915, she was married to William J. Ortman in Enterprise. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1959.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Enterprise Community Church, Wallowa Valley Chapter # 50 OES of Enterprise, PEO Chapter R, and Emerald Rebekah Lodge # 119.

The Mother Ortman Assembly of Rainbow for Girls was named for Mrs. Ortman.

Services were held Monday, August 14 at the Bollman chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Eric Walch officiating.

Pearl and cliff Collingsworth sang a duet, “My God and I” with Jeanette Powers accompanying on the organ.

Bearers were John E. Johnson, Mike and Don Miller, Bill Rudger, Van P. Thomas, and Chuck Neill, Jr.

Vault internment was in the Enterprise Cemetery.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Charles D. (Betty) Neill of Enterprise; two granddaughters, Mrs. Michael (Maudeen) of Seward, Alaska, Mrs. Van R. (Kay) Thomas of Pasco, Washington; one great-grandson, David Nuxall of Seward, Alaska; one great-granddaughter, Heather Kay Thomas of Pasco, Washington; and other relatives. A son, William John Ortman, Jr., preceded her in death in 1940.

Bollman Funeral home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
