Jorgenson, Anton Bernhard “Tony” – Obituary

Richland, Baker County, Oregon

Anton Bernhard “Tony” Jorgenson, 90, died at his home in Richland on Jan. 9, 2006.

A graveside service was held in Salem on Jan. 11 at City View Cemetery. Pastor Ben Bryson of the Court Street Christian Church officiated the service.

Tony was born on Sept. 14, 1915, in Esplee, Minn., to Niles T. and Christine Olson Jorgenson. His early years were spent in Esplee.

At about the age of 14, he and his family moved to Salem. Tony graduated from high school in Salem and then returned to Minnesota to work for the railroad. It was while in Minnesota that he met and later married Hulda Olivia Thoreson on Aug. 3, 1938.

During Tony’s life he dabbled in real estate. He enjoyed buying, remodeling and then selling homes. He was also contract painter. Tony owned several mining claims in Burnt River Canyon, which he worked for more than 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars, doing the mechanics.

He moved to Richland after the death of his wife, and has lived with his grandson Randy these last five years.

Tony is survived by his three grandchildren, Randy Jorgenson and Liz of Richland, Sandy and Russ Bailey of Jefferson, and Susan Jorgenson-Hartsell of Salem, and one-step grandchild, Wendy, and her husband Mike Graetzer of Stayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hulda, a son, Gary Dale Jorgenson, one brother and four sisters.
