Hazel Donella Hunt, 63, of Baker City, died Sept. 16, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Services following complications from lung problems.
Her memorial service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Sumpter School House. Pastor Les Haynes will officiate. Cremation was handled by Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Crematory.
Hazel was born on Aug. 31, 1944, in Heppner. Her parents were Oren McDaniel and Daisy May Andrews. She was raised in Heppner and attended high school there.
She was married to Robert Hunt since October 1970. Hazel enjoyed country and western music, especially old-time fiddle music. She didn’t play an instrument, but had a good ear for music. She also enjoyed the outdoors, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and going to the family cabin in Hardman. She liked to go and cut wood as long as she could be the boss.
She enjoyed baking cakes, making homemade candy, and the taste of a good beer.
A loving wife, a best friend to her husband, and a good housekeeper, she will be missed very much by people who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Hunt of Sumpter; a brother Ivan McDaniel of John Day; a sister, Rita Medlock of Hermiston; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oren McDaniel, and her mother, Daisy Andrews McDaniel.
