North Powder, Union County, Oregon
A. B. Hudelson, for sixteen years connected with the North Powder mercantile firm of A.B. Hudelson & Son, passed away very suddenly at his home in Salem, last Saturday morning. Mr. Hudelson, quite aged, often said he trusted when his time came he would welcome a sudden death and his wishes were granted. On Saturday morning he left his house to milk a cow, and upon returning with the milk fell dead on the porch.
His son, W.A. Hudelson, who has had active management of the firm’s business in this city was notified, and with his wife and son left immediately for Salem. The elder Mr. Hudelson made frequent trips to North Powder and became well acquainted with most of the people of this city.
Funeral services were held Monday, and were witnessed by 500 people. The G.A.R. held a short service for the deceased and also the Knight Templars. Mr. Hudelson having been a member of both organizations. As a token of respect held for the deceased in this city, the business men and citizens sent a fine floral wreath to Salem.
