Erma L. Gray passed away at the Wallowa County Nursing home in Enterprise on December 28, 1983. She was born August 29, 1897 at Elgin, daughter of Thomas and Nettie Henderson Scott.
On Nov. 19, 1913 she was married to John Gray at Enterprise. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a homemaker most of her life.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Gray of North Powder, John Gray of Huntington and Clark Gray of Union; six daughters, Leona Scott of Elgin, Lenis Bales of West Fir, Ore., Lela Fordice of North Powder, Lillian Newton of Milton-Freewater, Beulah Tally of Cove and Marilyn McIntyre of Tigh Valley; three brothers, Duard, Hershel and Darrell Scott, all of Wallowa; two sisters, Fay Finley of Enterprise and Bessie Southwick of Burns; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Elgin Nazarene Church on Saturday, December 31, at 11 a.m. Frank Laci officiated. Organist was Loris Laci and soloist was Ethel Smith. Casket bearers were her grandsons, Dennis Tally, James Tibbs, Jerry Gray, John Gray, Jr., Edward Tibbs, Rob Gray, Keith Fordice, Kenneth Fordice and Larry Bales. Vault internment was in the Elgin Cemetery.
