Charles R. Goebel passed away near Wallowa, Oregon on September 14, 1984. He was born November 5, 1896, at Wallowa, the son of Peter and Gertrude Goebel. On June 23, 1928, he was married to Kate Johnson at La Grande. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1982.
Goebel was a logger and rancher by trade. He served in France during World War l, and for a while afterwards lived in various logging camps on the coast where he worked as a timber faller. During most of his life he lived on Bear Creek. He was logging superintendent for J. Herbert Bate for two years.
Survivors include sons Harold of Wallowa, Leo of Joseph, Jack of Butte, MT., and daughter Geraldine Wiecks of San Mateo, Ca.
Interment at the Wallowa Cemetery.
