Ed Cox, 63, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in Baker City, Ore., at St. Elizabeth Health Services. He will be interred in the family plot at the Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colo.
Edwin Minor Cox was born on July 24, 1943, in Norwood, Colo., to Betty and Isaac Cox. The family moved from Norwood to Olathe, Colo., where Ed was raised and educated. He graduated from Olathe High School and then went on to work in the construction industry.
On June 2, 1962, Ed married Nadine James in Montrose, Colo. They had one child together, a daughter Sheri. They made their first home in Montrose. A few years later, Nadine’s folks (Cameron’s) moved to Washington and shortly after Ed, Nadine and Sheri followed.
Ed’s construction work took him to California where he worked for PIE and was a member of the Teamsters Local #0788. Ed was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
In 1995, Ed and Nadine divorced. Ed then moved to Cheyenne, Wy., to be nearer to his brother Joe and then moved to Baker City in 2003.
During Ed’s life his passions were many, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very soft spoken, kind and generous.
These last few years Ed lost both of his legs due to poor circulation. But he continued to enjoy getting out as his health permitted. Ed, Joe and Judy would travel to Arizona in the winter, and in the summer would fish. This last summer they spent a great deal of time on the Snake River.
Sheri, Ed’s daughter says, “I’m so appreciative of the care my uncle and aunt, Joe and Judy provided for my dad.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheri and husband, Stewart Wegner; grandson, Gavin Urquhart of Arlington, Wash., brother, Joe and wife Judy Cox of Baker City, Ore.; sister-in-law, Anne Cox of Montrose, Colo.; many nieces and nephews in the Sedro Wolley, Wash., and in Montrose, Colo., area’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Betty; brothers, Herbie and Eugene; step father, William “Bill” Yockey.
