Carpenter, Kim McLaughlin Mrs. – Obituary

Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. A luncheon will follow at the Eagles Club, 2935 H St., beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Kim was born Dec. 12, 1956, to Don McLaughlin and Joyce (McLaughlin) Aldrich, in Pensacola, Fla. Her family moved to Baker in 1972 where she met the love of her life, Samuel Carpenter Sr. The couple were married on Sept. 19, 1984, blending their families together. Kim had two children, Chrissy and Steven, and Sam Sr. had two children, Dollie and Sam Jr.

Kim lived a wonderful life, full of endless memories with family and friends. She always had a smile on her face. She was the “Rock” who held us all together. She was our confidante, shoulder to lean on and most important, our best friend. To know her was to love her.

She enjoyed softball, traveling, games and times full of laughs with friends and family.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Sam Carpenter Sr.; her mother, Joyce Aldrich; her sisters, Carla Price and husband John, and Karen Hensley; her brothers, Kenny McLaughlin and wife Karen, and Robert Aldrich; her children, Steve Connor and his wife Keri, Chrissy Connor, Sam Carpenter Jr. and his wife Michelle, and Dollie Robertson; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don McLaughlin; grandmother, Myrtle Aldrich; and an aunt, Clarice Beach.

She will be missed by too many to list. To our wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, grandma and most of all our best friend, we all love you and will miss you very much. Smiles to heaven until we meet again.

Because Kim loved children with the utmost part of her heart, donations in her memory may be made to any children’s hospital in lieu of flowers. This may be done through Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
