Carlson, Melvin Spencer “Swede” – Obituary

Melvin Spencer ‘Swede’ Carlson, 90, died Jan. 31, 2007, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Fruitland, Idaho, Dec. 15, 1917, and raised in Halfway, Ore. He married Anna Vee in 1947 and they built a life together in Huntington, Ore., for 50 years. Swede was the mayor of Huntington, Ore., for two terms and a member of B.P.O.E (Elks Lodge) in Ontario, Ore., #1690. He was a machinist for Oregon Portland Cement and retired after 30 years.

He was a government employee in Pearl Harbor during World War II and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and camping.

The Carlson family would like to extend a special thanks to all of their devoted friends and family in Huntington and Halfway, Ore. They gave Swede such joyous memories.

Donations may be made to the Providence Hospital Hospice and Home care of Snohomish County North Team in the name of Melvin Spencer Carlson. Thank-you to the North Team for the support and special care during Melvin’s last days at home with his family.
