Dr. Steven (Steve) D. Adams of Baker City, Ore., passed away Aug. 3, 2008, after an extended battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 5, 1951, in Eugene to Al and Ruth Adams. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1969 and attended Eastern Oregon College and Oregon State University where he received his degree in microbiology in 1974. This was followed by attending the School of Dentistry at Oregon Health Sciences Center in Portland where he earned his DMD degree in 1978.
Following graduation he established the Adams Family Dental Clinic in Baker City, which he operated for 30 years until April 1 of this year.
Adams is survived by five children: Lori and Jenna of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jake of Eugene; Chad and Haley of Baker City. Also surviving are his parents in Springfield; his sister, Nancy, of Beaverton and her children Jay, Jeff and Nichelle.
Adams was a life-long, avid hunter and enjoyed the challenges of the roughest terrains in North America. His avocation was raising purebred Angus cattle at his Baker City ranch.
He was a member of the Baker City Nazarene Church as well as several professional organizations.
A memorial service will be held at the church on Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
