Oto Indian Gentes

Morgan gives the Oto and Missouri gentes together, as follows:

  1. Mejeraja (Wolf),
  2. Mooncha (Bear),
  3. Ahrowha (Cow Buffalo),
  4. Hooma (Elk),
  5. Khaa (Eagle),
  6. Luteja (Pigeon),
  7. Waka (Snake),
  8. Makotch (Owl).

Dorsey obtained the following list of Oto gentes:

  1. Patha (Beaver)
  2. Tunanpi (Black Bear) or
  3. Munchirache, Arukhwa (Buffalo),
  4. Rukhcha (Pigeon),
  5. Makache (Owl),
  6. Wakan (Snake),
  7. Cheghita (Eagle).
