The Cedarville Rancheria is a Federally Recognized Tribe consisting of 35 members in 2016. These individuals are either listed on or eligible to be listed on the Official Census Roll dated July 18, 1954, and are direct descendants of those initially eligible for membership.
Situated on 26 acres in Cedarville, California, the Rancheria hosts several resident families, with one or two families residing nearby, though outside the Rancheria. Additional members are spread across the western states.
The Tribal Office, located in Alturas approximately 20 miles west of Cedarville, serves as the hub for daily operations and tribal events, including the notable quarterly Council Meetings. These meetings commence in January and continue quarterly throughout the year. The Tribal Office also hosts ICWA events, youth tutoring sessions, and holiday celebrations.
Officer terms within the tribe last three years. Candidates for office must be over 18 years of age and enrolled members of the Cedarville Rancheria, with elections held at the end of each term through a secret ballot.
The Cedarville Rancheria is currently engaged in the early planning stages of new projects through its Economic Development Committee and Tribal Members, aimed at enhancing the community’s economy. Initial business ventures include the operation of the Cedarville Rancheria Public Scales.
The tribe provides various services to its members, including Aid to Tribal Government, the Indian Welfare Act, Community Fire Protection, Hazardous Fuels Management, a Housing Improvement Plan, Roads Maintenance, a Community Service Block Grant, Environmental Protection, Adult Education, Economic Development, Job Placement, Social Services, and Indian Housing Plans.
Cedarville offers cultural experiences, outdoor activities, and scenic views, making it an appealing destination for visitors.
