Clinton County, Missouri was formed in 1833 from part of Clay County. It was named after DeWitt Clinton of New York. The county seat is Plattsburg, also named after a New York location. The county’s township structure has changed over time, with the current divisions established in 1871.

Clinton County Missouri marriage records have been preserved, despite a destructive fire in 1895 that razed the courthouse. This compilation includes 1,595 marriages from Books A and B. Most records do not mention the parents of the couple, but supplementary information from county and state histories, census data, and family documents are provided within brackets [] for further research. Although every effort has been made to accurately transcribe names, some remain ambiguous.
