Biographical Sketch of Edward A. Merritt
Edward A. Merritt, born on February 12, 1862, in Marquette, Michigan, was the son of Daniel H. and Harriett L. Merritt. He received his education in public schools and Racine College before studying at Bryant Stratton and Smith Business College in Cleveland. Merritt worked initially in business with his father, then joined the Cleveland Stone Company in 1888, where he served as assistant treasurer, auditor, stockholder, and director for over twenty-four years. He married Matildia Huntington in 1886 and had one deceased daughter.
