Biography of Jonas P. Johnson
Jonas P. Johnson, born in Sweden in 1849, emigrated to America at eighteen, initially settling in Illinois before moving to Kansas in 1875. He began as a farmhand, eventually acquiring land and becoming a pillar of the Saline County community around Assaria. Johnson’s industrious nature allowed him to thrive, and he participated actively in local institutions, notably as an organizer of the Swedish Lutheran Church. He married Ingry C. Olson and had eight children, leaving a legacy of moral character and community dedication upon his death in 1917.
