Biographical Sketch of Jesse Penton
Jesse Penton, a prominent landscape gardener in San Mateo for over forty-five years, has significantly contributed to the region’s estates. He is known for his work on properties owned by notable figures such as Harry Hastings and Mrs. Bothin. Penton collaborated with John McLaren and took over vital projects when McLaren left for Golden Gate Park. Additionally, he managed the Cherry Canyon Water Company and was involved in the Masonic Hall Association. Born in England in 1842, he settled in Millbrae in 1872 and has remained in San Mateo County.
