El Nora M. Kandle, 73, of Baker City, Oregon, passed away on January 16, 2003. Born on July 11, 1929, in Klamath Falls, she began working at a young age and eventually moved to California to attend Pilgrim Evangelistic Institute. She married Lynn R. Kandle in 1950 and later worked in various restaurants and for ranch crews. A dedicated 4-H leader, she taught art and crafts for many years. Survived by her children, siblings, and grandchildren, she was preceded in death by her husband and family members. Memorial services will be held at Coles Funeral Home.

Dern, I. Delbert – Obituary

I. Delbert Dern, 74, of Lynnwood, Washington, passed away on February 14, 2003, after a brief battle with cancer. A private interment occurred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery and a family celebration followed on February 22. Born on December 24, 1928, in Pendleton, he served in the U.S. Army before becoming an auto painter in Edmonds. Greenwood, Carl M. – Obituary

Carl M. Greenwood, aged 83, passed away on June 15, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Care Center in Unity, Oregon. Born on February 10, 1919, in Oglesby, Oklahoma, he married Mildred Packard in 1940. The Greenwoods moved to Unity in 1957, where he worked on the Rouse Brothers Ranch until health issues prompted his retirement. A member of the American Quarter Horse Association, he enjoyed raising and riding quarter horses. He is survived by his wife, four children, ten grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Wallace Emery “Wally” Hardman, 81, of Baker City, Oregon, passed away on February 15, 2002. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force and returned to a life of ranching and community service. He was deeply involved in 4-H, local churches, and the Elks Lodge. Wally is survived by his wife, Betty, two children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His funeral will take place at Gray’s West Co. Mrs. Stanbro was a rancher and homemaker, enjoying fishing and crafts, and cherished time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

Thomas T. “Tom” Shira, 66, passed away on September 13, 2001, in Unity. A Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War and later worked with the Oregon Department of Transportation. A 1961 graduate of Hereford High School, she married Everett Holladay in 1962 and worked as a school district secretary and insurance agent before retiring in 1988. She was active in her community and is survived by her husband, mother, two sons, siblings, and seven grandchildren.
