Raymond Francis Carpenter, 86, of Cove, died Jan. 10, 2007, at a local care facility. His memorial service will take place Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley in La Grande. Mr. Carpenter was born on Oct. 28, 1921, one of the 12 children of Alfa Ray and Jennie Marie (Trapp) Carpenter in Deerfield, Mo. He grew up in Nevada and Missouri and served in the U.S. Navy.
