William R. Sanders Died At His Home Here Last Friday William Sanders, pioneer resident of this section, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Dalton, Friday, March 26, aged 68 years. He was born in Indiana and came to this part of the country at an early date. Mr. Sanders had been in poor health for several years, and for the past few weeks had been confined to his room. Brakeman Killed At Hilgard Saturday William Wall a brakeman in the employee of the O.W.R.& N. company, was instantly killed last Saturday night at Hilgard; when he stepped between two engines as they suddenly came together. In this city, May 8, 1906, John C. Eckley, aged 78 years. The deceased was born in Richland County, Ohio, and crossed the Plains, coming to California in 1850. His wife died about 5 years ago. He has been a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, and to the time of his recent illness was an active worker. Four children survive his loss. They are, Wm. E. Death Comes To Wickham Willis James Wickham, 73, long time resident of Elgin, Union County, died late yesterday evening in La Grande after a long illness.
